How much will you spend per month?
An average 4 kg adult cat eats roughly 50–60 g of dry food a day, which is about 1.6–1.8 kg per month. In practice:
Budget plan: one 3 kg pack of Purepet or Oskies — about 950 to 1,160 Tk per month. Balanced plan: SmartHeart 3 kg plus a few pouches a week — about 1,900 to 2,200 Tk per month. Premium plan: Bonacibo or Drools plus daily wet food topper — 2,500 Tk and above.
Dry food or wet food — which is worth the money?
Dry food is far cheaper per kilogram and keeps well in Bangladesh's humidity if you seal the bag properly. Wet food carries much more moisture, which helps cats that do not drink enough water and helps prevent urinary problems. The most cost-effective routine for most owners is dry food as the base plus two to four pouches a week.
Why prices change
Almost all cat food sold here is imported (Thailand, India, Turkey), so the price moves with the dollar rate, import duty and shipping. Large packs (3 kg and 7 kg) always cost less per kilogram than small packs, so buying the biggest bag your cat will finish within 6–8 weeks is the cheapest approach.
How to avoid fake or expired food
Check the printed manufacturing and expiry date on the bag, not a sticker. Reject any bag that is torn, oily or smells rancid. Buy from a seller who lets you inspect the pack at delivery — every Pet Care Vet order is cash on delivery, so you can check before you pay.
